Setting up email in a mail app
Once a mailbox exists, you can add it to any mail app using its IMAP and SMTP settings. Use your own domain name in place of yourdomain.com below.
Incoming mail (IMAP)
- Server:
mail.yourdomain.com - Port:
993with SSL/TLS (or143with STARTTLS) - Username: your full email address, e.g.
you@yourdomain.com - Password: the mailbox password
Outgoing mail (SMTP)
- Server:
mail.yourdomain.com - Port:
587with STARTTLS (or465with SSL/TLS) - Username: your full email address
- Password: the mailbox password
- Authentication: required
For example, for a mailbox on yurnichost.com use mail.yurnichost.com on ports 993 and 587.
Use
mail.yourdomain.com, not a server name. Some control-panel screens display an internal server name such aswebapp-svr1-au.yurnic-x.com. Do not copy that into your mail app — our mail server's certificate is issued formail.yourdomain.com, so a mail app pointed at the internal name will warn about a certificate mismatch and may refuse to send. If your app is set up this way, change the server name tomail.yourdomain.comand the warning disappears.
Webmail
You can also read and send mail in a browser at https://mail.yourdomain.com — useful for a quick check before setting up an app, or from a device where you can't add an account.
Common hiccups
- "Certificate name mismatch" — the server name is not
mail.yourdomain.com. Fix the name, then restart the app. - "Cannot send mail" / authentication failed — outgoing must be
587with STARTTLS and authentication on, and the username must be the full email address (not just the part before the@). - Nothing arrives — confirm the domain's MX record points to us. If you changed DNS recently, allow up to a few hours for it to propagate.
